Investment advice in Zimbabwe – who do women ask for Investment advice?

by | Jan 26, 2015 | opportunities | 0 comments

Where do females turn for Investment advice in Zimbabwe? This is a question worthy asking considering that about 52% of the Zimbabwean population is women. This question has bugged me since we started the ZimInvestor files. A research by emarketer.com (2014) showed that just 14% of women use financial websites for Investing and retirement advice. Though this research wasn’t carried out in Zimbabwe or Africa, it helped me come up with a rudimental conclusion. Using a sample space of the women’s emails, phone calls and questions I have received about Investing in Zimbabwe for the time period January to October 2014, there was no difference in results.

Quite intriguing! The question now is, ‘How many financial websites do we have in Zimbabwe and are they enough to cater for the women of Zimbabwe?’ Zimbabwean women are all your questions being answered about Investing in Zimbabwean businesses or Investing on the Zimbabwe stock exchange. What king of information do you want us to publish on this forum? If it’s an area outside our scope, we will bring an expert in that field who will assist likewise.

A little bit of conditional probability. Please bear with me. The probability of women using a dedicated financial advisor in Zimbabwe given the probability of women using the internet in Zimbabwe as 18% and 14% in America, we are likely to come up with an almost similar figure. Thus on average, 40 percent of women in Zimbabwe have a dedicated financial advisor. The simple question now is how do you choose a financial advisor? Your financial advisor should be knowledgeable in these key financial investment areas

  • Medical aid in Zimbabwe
  • Life assurance and Property Insurance in Zimbabwe
  • Property market and Investment in Zimbabwe
  • Stock Market (Zimbabwe Stock exchange)
  • Money Markets in Zimbabwe
  • Entrepreneurship and start up experts (Zimbabwean perspective)
  • Venture capital expert
  • Legal advice in Zimbabwe

The conclusion!

I have gone up and down Harare looking for experts in these different disciplines. It wasn’t an easy task but I must say I managed. While some of the areas will be offered for free to subscribers and followers of our page, you will have to pay for other specific services.
