How to make money teaching online from Zimbabwe

If you have followed this site for the past 10 years you will know that we talk about nothing else but making money in Zimbabwe by both Zimbabweans and non-Zimbabweans. I have received many testimonial letters of how people’s lives are being changed by our work. I know that most people will be on Holiday to cool down the body and recharge it in the coming year with brand new resolutions this December so am giving you something to think about this Christmas. Something which you may perhaps add to your 2020 money making resolutions…making money teaching online.

Besides my religious faith, there are two other important lessons my parents taught me. The first one is wisdom in the heart will never win a lawsuit and the second is a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle. I have realised that whilst a candle does lose nothing by lighting another candle, it can actually make more money doing it by simply teaching others.

What you know is worth millions to the world

I have realised that everyone has a story to tell. That story may seem worthless to you but it is worth millions to someone else. Do you know someone is ready to pay you for that knowledge which you have accumulated throughout your life although you deem it useless? Smart people know that just one hour on the table with a wise man is worth a month’s study of books. People will pay anything to anyone who will just teach them the knowledge hidden in books or the knowledge them themselves have accumulated throughout life. The questions is, “What do you do if the wise man in you is based in southern of Africa in Zimbabwe, and the recipient is in another corner of the world say Australia or Canada?” It’s still possible to teach, make money and have fun whilst doing it despite this barrier.

All you need is to have knowledge in a specific area that you could teach for a fee. For instance, I have a friend who loves data science and analytics (which is just one module he learnt from University), and he makes 5 figures teaching others how to manipulate data unto useful information through videos online. Okay enough about the background, show me how?

There are different platforms which you can use to create online content. I will focus on just three to give you a head start. The platform you will pick will depend on your profile and monetisation strategy.

LinkedIn learning (Formerly Lynda.com) – Making money on Linkedin in Zimbabwe

This is one of the currently hottest platforms for doing online courses as it is associated with a huge digital platform learning environment. LinkedIn is a professional networking site and if you would want to teach professionally related courses, then LinkedIn is the place for you. I have done paid courses in Digital Marketing and PowerPoint for presentations on LinkedIn. Teaching your content on this platform will not only enhance you financially but also improve your LinkedIn Profile. I have submitted my name for reviews to enable me to also create content on this platform. LinkedIn Learning courses are sought after as most employers now recognise LinkedIn learning courses.

Creating a course to be taught on LinkedIn will thus open you up to a huge business opportunity

Udemy – Making money on Udemy in ZImbabwe

Iam currently in the process of creating a course for Udemy. Udemy is one of the easiest platforms to create a course as they don’t take much time to validate their course creators unlike LinkedIn Learning. However, Udemy only gives a certificate of completions. Their courses are not academically accredited courses and as such the certificates may not be used as such. However, this is the go to place for courses which are usually under the soft skills category. I have done 70% of my online courses on Udemy than in any other place. The courses are affordable, self-paced and self-styled. The standard course cost is USD10 thus increase potential subscriptions to your course. Most courses on Udemy get an enrolment of a minimum of 1000 students in the first month, thus an income of USD10,000 for you. Do you have a story to tell, someone out there in one corner of the world has an ear to listen and they are willing to pay to get you to talk about it. Why wait.

Teachable – Making money with teachable in Zimbabwe

I first learnt about teachable from a business associate when I was involved in an interior decor and flower business. The teachable platform is one of the best money making digital platforms which in essence is a complete digital university. There is nothing you can’t do on teachable. If you have high net worth, and high traffic for your courses, then teachable is your money making machine. It has a small monthly hosting fee to enable you to host your courses but trust me it’s worth it.

YouTube – Making money on YouTube in Zimbabwe

Iam currently in the middle of creating various YouTube channels. Iam not able to disclose them at the moment as they are still in production. YouTube is for the unstructured but high traffic courses which people wouldn’t normally want to pay money for. You will then make money from the adverts which shows before and during a video whenever you go on YouTube. Whilst I personally started my digital journey basing my income only on these ads, I have since realised that this model may not be enough to turn your fortunes around. Unless maybe you have uploaded a sought after exclusive interview with Donald Trump or a rare video of a fight between in the Serengeti. But since you may not be able to do either, your secret is being creative and posting unique content online. Creative and unique doesn’t mean new videos all the time. An old video can still be creatively retouched and made unique. I have a complete course on that which I call YouTube Income.

There are many local Zimbabweans who are making it big on YouTube mostly comedians. Whilst they are making you break down with laughter, you are also making them laugh all the way to the bank. Seems fair enough isn’t it. Besides comedy, there are many other areas one can make money with on YouTube.

  • Comedy
  • Preaching
  • Social Commentaries
  • Football
  • Recipes and cooking

The money is there waiting for you, however the trick is:

  • Picking the right digital platform for your courses
  • Picking a niche for your courses or your area of expertise
  • Researching the need for the course
  • Developing your content in Digital manner
  • Creating the courses in a way that make people come back
  • And how to get your content found

I have invested a lot of time learning about all these digital learning platforms and I invite you to join me in this Digital Journey with me. Email me and my team on invest@www.ziminvestors.com for more information. When I say making money online, I do not mean in Zimbabwean terms… I know you know this already but I will say it anyway. The internet business is not limited to your geographical location, that is, Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is simply a base you are operating from. Your are selling your courses to the rest of the world. Imagine if only 100 people but your courses per country, how much will that be? GO MAKE THEM BENJAMINS. And as always…TO YOUR CONTINUED SUCCESS.
