How to publish a book on amazon from Zimbabwe

by | Feb 16, 2015 | opportunities, resources, ziminvestor show | 6 comments

I have received more than 20 emails from January of artists asking me how to get published in Zimbabwe. Besides loving writing, I too am yet to publish a book hopefully by year end. I have been fascinated with farming so much that I forgot to give other investment opportunities in Zimbabwe a chance but as far as becoming a published author in Zimbabwe, I felt I would better turn to someone who has done it and I couldn’t hesitate but turn to someone in my inner circle, Rudo Muchoko author of two great books When Love Strikes and The Barn. She has a publishing company in Europe and Southern Africa called RM Publishers. I caught up with RM publishers and here’s what they said:

ZInve: RM Publishers great to finally caught up with you, can you tell us a bit more about yourself and why you’re into publishing.

RM_Publishers: thank you Ziminvestors for having me. Well RM Publishers exists to give support to upcoming

writers, established ones and those aspiring to write. We are here to support and to guide people so they can achieve their dreams and for established writers to get noticed on platforms such as Amazon and other writing platforms.

ZInve: Great Vision. I believe you are a published writer yourself tell me more about your books

RM: I have always been an avid reader when I was in school and writing came naturally as a result. I first wrote my book in 2003 but I was a bit young then and did not think of perusing it but as I grew older and because it was a passion I kept writing more short stories and in 2013 I decided to publish my first novel when love strikes and in 2014 I published The Barn and both books are on Amazon.

ZInve: Fantastic! That’s a great achievement hey and it goes to show what following dreams is all about. I hear you also won an award last year tell us about that.

RM: I did thank you. I wasn’t expecting it. I received a literary Writer of the year Award from ZIMAA. The event took place in High Wycombe UK.

ZInve: Excellent so how did it feel receiving that award: Here you are with your forts book and getting an award what’s the experience like?

RM: It’s just a dream come true, it was so amazing and I just thank God so much. I also hope people get inspired and envision themselves turning those manuscripts into books. It’s an awesome feeling.

ZInve: Wow thank you Rudo so if people want to publish what do they do.

RM: They can get in touch with us RMPublishers. We are currently on face book and Twitter. Our website us under construction. They can email us info@rm-pa.org. Our aim also is to promote writers from Africa and have their work noticed on many writing platforms as possible on the international level. So far we have published paperbacks and kindle formats for great  authors such as Nicholas Bhero and Alvin Nyika. So it’s all exciting work for us and we would love to hear from all kinds of writers.

ZInve: Great Stuff! I didn’t know you also did work with Alvin Nyika. So are you planning any events to do with your publishing company

RM: oh yes! Come June we shall be hosting a very first of its kind conference in Birmingham  UK for publishers, writers and readers alike. We are calling it PaWaR conference and our theme is Together we can make it happen! The aim of this conference is for people to connect, to network, to share info and hopefully to be encouraged to go the extra mile to get their publishing goals met. It’s going to be a fantastic conference, we have so many things planned and we are just excited. We are also going to be launching as RM Publishers and there’s going to be great prizes to be won.

ZInve: Sounds like an event not to miss hey. I will make sure I am there too.

RM: Yes Please do

ZInve: and finally tell us about the great cause towards this conference

RM: Yes, we are selling raffle tickets and all donations are going to Tariro house of Hope a Zim based charity looking after orphans. We hope to make a difference as we feel these are the future PaWaRs. If people wanted to give in any other way they can contact Tariro House Of Hope.

ZInve: Great catching up with you. I working on project book and it would be great working with you till its published. And Rudo, Please keep us posted on your event.

RM: Thank you for your time.

ZInve: Talk to you soon Rudo

I hope this conversation with Rudo Muchoko will make some unpublished authors think twice about publishing and the already published authors consider publishing online on Amazon. I had to shorten this interview but Rudo went on to explain the smaller details involved in the publishing business as well as the profits. Don’t limit your work to that bookshop in your hood. There is a wider audience on-line. And as always

To your continued success

I have published two religious books on Amazon but I am yet to receive any royalties. I have just finished writing a third one which is going through proofreading. May I have your assistance on the way forward.
